Gill Boulton

Humble and modest, Gill is the epitome of success, having, at a young age, carefully carved out her path to success.

Since graduating with first class honours in her Masters degree in Plant Pathology, Gill leaped into the business world with great confidence and hasn't looked back.

Gill has a solid sales background. Her career started in sales in the pharmaceutical industry, selling to hard-nosed GPs and hospital Doctors. That first role really finetuned her sales skills, it also allowed her to leverage her scientific and academic skills. Being strong-willed and determined, Gill quickly worked her way up into middle and senior management. After she had her two children she branched out into property development, starting with small projects such as sub-divisions then moving into property and business sales - a natural progression”, Gill says.

Gill achieved staggering success in property sales in her home country of New Zealand, achieving many awards including, top ten salespeople status nationally, as well as Diamond status, top Salesperson, top Lister and top Profile Marketer.

"Achieving top ten salespeople status was a big moment for me, I felt that I had really achieved one of my goals and that all of my hard work had paid off".

More recently, however, Gill's has come full circle and is back doing what she does best: sales. Her focus is now on growing her business on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, where as a business broker at Savvy Business Sales, Gill offers all Sunshine Coast (and further afield sometimes) business sellers a new and refreshing approach to their business exit strategy.

Re-establishing oneself is not an easy task. Gill is working hard consolidating her position in the market and promoting her name to the public; letting people know what she does, how she does it and why she should be their business broker of choice. "I love what I do, and I want people to be comfortable in the knowledge that they have the best person to act for them", Gill says.

On challenges, Gill says her biggest was taking that first big step out of the comfort of having an employer and going into business for herself-and attempting to do so while retaining complete faith in herself. She also considers it to be one of the best decisions she has made and it has surely contributed to her success. The journey led her to take a step back, reflect upon herself and identify her strengths, which sometimes proved to be quite different from those in her previously held academic career!

Gill has achieved great personal and professional successes some of which only we can dream of. While at the pinnacle of her career, Gill's success stepped out of the boardroom and out to mountain terrain, she mountain-biked 106 kilometres across the Southern Alps, which she explains was "total madness" without one hint of regret in her voice.

You'd be right for thinking there is no end to Gill's pool of talents. What a woman!

Gill's 'big-tip' for women:

Successful women can still have their feet on the ground; they just wear better shoes..! Women 'can' have it all. With understanding people around you, you can have it all. You can have a career and a family, and be able to buy nice shoes. Being successful doesn't mean compromising on your femininity, family or fitness. It just means that you have to work a little harder to fit it all in.
